Getaway List

About Getaway List

Most people are willing to travel. What they’re missing is a reason — a specific thing to do that makes a specific place worth the trip.

Why this exists

Search for somewhere to go and you get one of two things: a single-hobby platform built for people already at the destination — forecasts, route topos, dive beta — or a generic travel listicle ranking cities you’ve already heard of. Neither tells you that a place is worth going because of something you can do there.

Getaway List starts from the activity. The unit here isn’t the place, it’s the adventure: surfing in Taghazout, ski touring in the Tatras, wildlife watching in Białowieża. Each one answers a single question — why go, and what would you actually do when you arrive.

What it isn’t

This is a discovery product, not a booking one. There are no prices, no availability, no operators, no affiliate links, and no star ratings. Nothing here is trying to sell you a trip. You browse, you find a place you want to go and a reason to go there, and you leave.

There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for to use it. The one optional email list is just a heads-up when new places go up.

How adventures are chosen

The catalogue starts small on purpose. Early entries are ones that can be personally verified rather than aggregated from reviews — so the coverage leans toward Europe, reachable from Poland, and grows outward as more places are seen firsthand.

Every adventure carries an honest summary, the season it’s actually good in, who it suits, and a concrete first step. Where something hasn’t been verified in person yet, it says so.

Where it’s going

The model is global from day one. The long-term aim is broad coverage across hundreds of activities — including the niche ones that only exist in a handful of places on earth — each described wherever it’s genuinely understood.
