Hiking in Preikestolen
Norway
The single most photographed viewpoint in Norway.
Góry Stołowe·Poland

Photo: Patryk Wojciechowski 1992 · Wikimedia · CC BY 3.0
The Stołowe are flat-topped sandstone tables that have split into mazes over a few million years. At Błędne Skały you walk between walls with a metre of sky above; at Szczeliniec you climb stairs cut into a rock city with named formations and a view over three countries.
It is the least Polish-looking landscape in Poland, and the only entry here you could do properly in a weekend.
In season: Apr–Oct
Timed entry at Błędne Skały in peak season, and passages tight enough that a large pack has to come off.
Park fee, and Błędne Skały runs a one-way system with a road barrier in summer — arrive early or accept a wait.

Italy
The visual shorthand for the entire Alps.
Italy
Continuously erupting, permanently in the news, and visible from most of eastern Sicily.
