Sailing in Masurian Lakes
Poland
The largest interconnected lake system in Central Europe and a rite of passage in Polish summer culture.

Masuria is lake sailing with a hot meal at the end. The Bay of Gdańsk is the other thing: salt water, commercial shipping, a sea that builds a short steep chop in a few hours, and the option of a proper coastal passage north to Hel or west along the Hel peninsula.
It is where Polish sailors go to learn what they are actually doing, and the marinas at Gdynia and Górki Zachodnie make it straightforward to charter.
In season: May–Sep
Baltic weather that changes fast, cold water year-round, and shipping lanes that demand attention.
Charter with a skipper if you have only sailed inland. A Polish sailing licence or an ICC is expected for bareboat.
