Skydiving in Interlaken

Interlaken sits in a bowl between two lakes with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau filling the skyline, and jumping here turns that postcard into something visceral: a tandem skydive with the entire Bernese Oberland — glaciers, turquoise lakes and 4,000-metre peaks — laid out beneath you.

You climb by plane or helicopter, exit strapped to a professional instructor, and fall for the better part of a minute through thin alpine air before the canopy opens and the noise drops to a glide back toward the valley floor.

The scenery does the rest; few drop zones on earth are this spectacular.

No experience is required — the instructor handles everything, and all you do is enjoy the most intense minute of your life against one of the great mountain backdrops. It is the boldest way to see the Oberland, and utterly unforgettable.

A tandem jump: after a short briefing you're harnessed to a professional instructor, climb to altitude by small plane or helicopter, and exit together into freefall — up to a minute of it — with the glaciers and lakes of the Bernese Oberland spread below.

The canopy opens for a smoother, quieter few minutes of gliding and steering back to the landing area. You need no experience and little fitness; the instructor controls the exit, freefall and landing. Expect intense speed, cold air and sensory overload on exit, then calm under canopy.

It's weather-dependent and can be delayed or cancelled for wind or cloud.

The season runs roughly April to October, weather permitting; flights are cancelled readily for wind or low cloud, so allow schedule flexibility and, ideally, a spare day. Operators set minimum ages (commonly around 16–18 with consent) and weight limits, so check when booking.

Wear comfortable clothes and trainers, and skip a heavy meal beforehand. Choose the plane or helicopter option for the climb — both deliver the same jump over the massif. It is a premium-priced, off-the-shelf experience.
