Why go

The main ridge of the Karkonosze runs above the treeline along the Czech border, a long, fast and exposed crest between Szrenica and Śnieżka with glacial cirques cut in its northern side. Stone paths and boardwalks make it one of the classic trail runs of Central Europe.

What to expect

Long, rocky and exposed running with steep climbs from the valleys, strong wind and fast weather changes. The full ridge is a big day; the Śnieżka loop and the cirque circuit are shorter options.
