Walking in the Caminito del Rey

Once Spain's most dangerous path, the rebuilt Caminito is a one-way walkway hung on the cliffs of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes — an airy, unforgettable half-day above the Guadalhorce. There is nothing else quite like it.

Easy underfoot but exposed and vertiginous, with a hard hat provided and a strict one-way flow. Timed tickets sell out weeks ahead, and the walk ends far from where it starts, so plan the shuttle bus.

Book a timed ticket online well in advance — this is the single limiting factor. Drive or take the train to El Chorro; the entrance is a 20-minute walk and the exit bus returns you to the car.
