The Białowieża Forest is the last large fragment of the primeval forest that once covered lowland Europe, with giant oaks, limes and spruces, deadwood left to lie, and bison in the clearings. Its Strict Reserve can only be entered with a licensed guide, while marked trails cross the rest of the forest.
In season: Apr–Oct · Peak: May–Sep
Easy, level walking on forest trails and boardwalks, from the Royal Oaks trail to longer routes through the wet Narewka valley. The guided Strict Reserve walk is the highlight.

Marked forest route through the managed part of the woods
Named oaks up to five hundred years old
Wet meadows and river forest on the eastern edge
Base in Białowieża village. Book a guide for the Strict Reserve, walk the Royal Oaks trail and the Żebra Żubra route, and follow the Narewka valley to Kosy Most on a longer day.
